The Fossil Feather Delightfully Raw Petoskey Stone Jewelry

Lake Michigan - Mitten Smitten!

When I was a child, my grandmother took me "up north" to hunt for Petoskey Stones. That is one of my fondest memories as a child. Over the past several years, we've made several trips to the beaches of northern Lake Michigan to look for Petoskey Stones. We seem to always come away with a big bucket of good stones. This year, I've spent at least one or two days a week (or more) at the beaches looking for stones. This is an activity that's relaxing and exhilarating... the crashing waves, the sunshine, the turquoise waters, the sugary sandy beaches... and the hunt! It's so hard to stop looking because you think that the "big one" is within a couple of steps. Without realizing it, 8 hours can pass and it's time to pack up and drive several hours home (or get a hotel for the night and resume the hunt in the morning!). It's truly addicting, and the scenery is almost blinding. Pure Michigan!
